Nephew Spike Bones’ new Punch & Judy Show

Roll up, roll up! Come and see a Punch & Judy show like you have never seen before! See Ms Judy take centre-stage, as she deals with Mr Punch’s outrageous behaviour, harassment from the police and questions their 360-year relationship.

Nephew Spike Bones is a 20 year-old, second generation showman and nonsense merchant: his brand new, 25-minute show is a traditional, yet alternative take on the slapstick fun of Punch & Judy.

Set within a traditional puppet booth, everyone can laugh along with the many misdemeanours of Mr Punch and Ms Judy, along with all their usual adversaries. Grandparents, parents and children alike will delight at all their merry misadventures – from stolen sizzling sausages, to a silly snapping crocodile.

This is an old artform made new, as Spike Bones reacts and interacts with whoever and whatever Mr Punch spies, leaving every generation to agree “That’s the way to do it!”

This project receives funding from the @EU_H2020 Research & Innovation Programme and the University of Exeter’s Public Engagement with Research fund. It was implemented at the University of Exeter in the Department of Drama. Any related posts/tweets reflect only the views of the project owner.

JOIN IN INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

Circus Skills and Hoop Workshops with Jenna Moran

Roll up, roll up for a dazzling array of circus skills. Circus skills demand a certain level of attention and concentration. Our workshop engages young and old whilst actively encouraging them to have fun. This, in turn, sharpens their focus to participate and encourages them to persevere. By using a variety of equipment such as diabolo, spinning plates, juggling balls, Hula hoops, Poi and devil sticks, this workshop motivates people to not only enhance their physical awareness but to develop their team-building skills and improve their self-esteem.
